Riding down the clock in the Penh
After finishing up in Mondulkiri my original plan was to head North to Siem Reap to visit some more temples before i finished. But in the end i couldn't be assed and the visit to Banteay Chhmar a few weeks earlier kinda gave me a temple fix so i bunkered down in Phnom Penh, whiling away the days drinking and dining.
The day after i got in, i asked Doramy down in Kampong Speu if there were any cars going up and down that i could hitch to get my stuff up from the speu to Phnom Penh. As it turned out, that very afternoon there was a car going down that was coming back to Phnom Penh the next day! So i went down and low and behold another party had been organised (my third farewell party from the sub-office!). Great food, great company and too much beer! It was nice as some guys were planning to go back to Phnom Penh that day but they decided to stick around and Ratha even forgoed a travel payment which he was entitled to and stayed in the speu with me!
So all my stuff is successfully in my hotel room and i have really no idea how much stuff i really have! The week has been filled with last minute shopping, constant dinner, lunches and brekkies with friends and even a round of golf with my friend lucy. I am happy because i have now said goodbye to all my friends now but i can't shake this bad feeling that i am making a mistake in coming home.
Now this is no slight to peeps at home, its just that i have such great community of friends here and the lifestyle is very good. Anyway, i am sure when i get home i will be reminded of all the loved ones at home as well. I think im just caught up in the nostalgia : )
Anyway, tomorrow is my last day in the Bodge and by the time i leave it will have been 745 fun filled days in the Bodge and without a doubt the best two years of my life.
